MDSUN Repair Moisturizer: DNA on Your Side

Just imagine: Instead of feeling guilty and fretting over all the time you spent outside without sunscreen this past summer, you could be carefree in preparing for the upcoming holiday season. Instead of staring at all the new freckles in the mirror, wondering when age spots are going to start appearing, you could be already out to dinner with your friends.
How is that all possible? With the new little miracle cream: MDSUN Repair Moisturizer.
This moisturizer is ultra-restorative and contains a revolutionary formula that is designed to minimize the visible signs of aging, strengthen the skin’s natural protective barrier, and repair damaged skin cells. It does this all through revolutionary DNA repair enzymes!

What is DNA?

DNA is only singly one of the most important aspects of your entire being. It is a long molecule that contains your unique genetic code and holds the instructions for building the proteins that are essential for our bodies to function.
DNA is a two-stranded structure called a double helix, with many “rungs” crossing and locking the two together. Imagine a ladder that got twisted around in circles long-ways. The rungs are linked in very specific ways that create our genetic code; our instructions for life. The order of the rungs is what makes DNA tell our cells what to do, where to go, and how to act.

How Does DNA Get Damaged?

When assaulted by UV exposure and free radicals produced by environmental factors like pollution, or poor lifestyle habits like smoking and bad diet, the rungs of the ladder can warp or break, or the ladder itself can be broken. One of the strands of the double helix can break, or both.
These impairments can impede the functions of the cell and can ultimately lead to mutations that lead to cancer.
We can help to protect our DNA from this damage by making sure we protect ourselves from the sun. We can also turn to the use of antioxidants that scavenge free radicals to stop the damage before it happens. But before now, we had no way of fixing damage after it’s already happened.

DNA Repair Enzymes to the Rescue

Our skin has an army of naturally occurring enzymes that can fix damaged DNA. They work by literally cutting out the damaged DNA and replacing it with fresh, clean pieces that match the correct order.
That’s all well-and-good, but as we get older, we don’t have as many of those natural repair enzymes, and they become less effective. The damage starts to add up, manifesting as wrinkles, age spots, and cancerous growths. You can improve damage to skin “with traditional topical treatments like retinoids, growth factors, and peptides,” says Joshua Zeichner, MD, an assistant professor of dermatology at New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital. They help to promote collagen growth and healthy cell development, but can’t reverse DNA damage.
We now do have a powerful class of ingredients at our fingertips in our skincare products that feature enzymes extracted from natural sources that can bolster your skin’s DNA repair capacity. These enzymes are encapsulated in liposomes so they can be absorbed into the epidermis.

What Can DNA Repair Enzymes Do

When applied to the skin, “These enzymes not only help to prevent precancers, they also prevent brown spots and help thicken skin by inhibiting the development of collagenase, the protein that degrades collagen,” says Ronald Moy, MD, Senior Vice President of the Skin Cancer Foundation and a former president of the American Academy of Dermatology.
They also can work immediately to mitigate the effects of sun exposure. “They work incredibly fast – within an hour,” says Moy.

MDSUN Repair Moisturizer Has the Right Combination

There isn’t one ingredient that will do the entire job of taking care of your skin. “You need to put together multiple ingredients to get the right protection and efficacy,” explains Frauke Neuser, Ph.D.
Antioxidants haven’t gone by the wayside. After all, the best way to combat damage is to prevent it. Zeichner compares them to fire extinguishers. “They put out the fires caused by UV light or pollution, which lead to inflammation in the skin and ultimately to DNA damage.” So, then DNA repair enzymes are like the contractors that come in to clean up. They “rebuild any structural harm that still occurs.”
MDSUN Repair Moisturizer has the right combination of some truly excellent ingredients, including DNA Repair Enzymes in the form of Endonuclease V. It also contains high concentrations of vitamin C and alpha lipoic acid.
  • Vitamin C can protect the skin from UVA and UVB exposure.
  • Alpha lipoic acid is a potent antioxidant that can affect fine lines, wrinkles, and skin texture.
  • Aderoxine is a form of vitamin B6, a conditioning agent that can help with inflammation and has antibacterial and antioxidant properties.
  • Endonuclease V is the star repair enzyme found in E. coli. It is able to repair UV-damaged DNA and has other beneficial effects on UV-damaged cells.
Working together, these powerful ingredients can help to prevent premature aging and wrinkling, retexture and brighten skin, and help to resurface, while instigating regeneration of other antioxidants in skin cells. Rich emollients intensely hydrate the skin and can restore the skin barrier.
